Super Saturday Campaign Day 9 April 2011 - Chester and West Cheshire Local Council Elections

In the upcoming local council elections on 5 May 2011, there are two fantastic and hardworking CF activists standing in winnable wards in Chester. Conservative Future North West are holding an action day on Saturday 9 April 2011 in support of Michael Turvey and Aden Lucas who are Conservative candidates for Boughton and Green Quarter wards respectively.

The plan for the day is as follows:

Meet at Chester Railway Station at 11.30am. We will be holding a street stall outside the station whilst we wait for people to arrive. At approximately 12.15pm we will split into two teams to leaflet and canvass the two wards. Following this we will all meet at the Conservative Club for drinks and nibbles provided courtesy of the Association.

I appreciate that the majority of you have council elections in your own constituencies, however if you can spare the time to come and help out for an afternoon in Chester, it should prove to be a very enjoyable and worthwhile afternoon, and another great opportunity to meet and socialise with CF activists from across the region. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact me on david.bonner@conservativefuture.com.

Over 50 Conservative Future activists converged on Oldham East and Saddleworth yesterday in support of the Conservative Candidate Kashif Ali. The action day, organised by North West Conservative Future, was attended by CF members from across the country, with branches as far afield as Newark and London represented.

Members campaigned alongside William Hague, the Foreign Secretary, and several other MPs including Andrew Stephenson and Eric Ollerenshaw. I was joined on the campaign trail by Ben Howlett, the National CF chair, Philip Smith, Chair of Yorkshire CF and several area chairs and national executive members. CF members delivered an estimated 7000 leaflets on the day in what was undoubtedly a massive boost to Kashif’s campaign.

Ben Howlett said “It was great to see over 50 Conservative Future members out supporting local candidate Kashif Ali, knocking on doors highlighting what a great MP he would make.”

Andrew Stephenson MP for Pendle said “We had over 200 volunteers out on Saturday, it was fantastic to see so many Conservative Future members helping to take Kashif Ali’s positive message out to voters across Oldham East and Saddleworth. Thanks to everyone who came!”

Congratulations to Michael Turvey from Chester and Jade Adamowicz from Liverpool who have been appointed to the North West Conservative Future executive as Deputy Chair Political and Deputy Chair Membership respectively. Michael and Jade join a strong team of Area Chairs and I am sure that they will make an invaluable contribution to the Regional executive.

In other changes, James Calder replaces Tom Currie as Lancashire Area Chair and Aden Lucas has taken over from Lee Evans in Cheshire and the Wirral. I would like to thank Tom and Lee for all their efforts over the past few years and take this opportunity to welcome James and Aden to the Regional executive.
