Annesley Abbercorn, PPC for Hazel Grove will be holding a campaign day on 13 February 2010. This will not be an "official" CF regional campaign day as such but I am sure any help that people are able to give would be greatly appreciated. Annesley is a great candidate (some of you may have seen his battle bus!) and the seat is winnable so any time you are able to give will not be wasted. We currently have a vacancy for an area chairman in Cumbria. Area chairs work within their counties to ensure that Conservative Future achieves its full potential in their respective localities, whether that is supporting established branches or setting up new ones.

If your a member of the Conservative Party and live in Cumbria then please apply. Ideally you will have some experience of politics and campaigning, but a desire to drive forward Conservative Future in Cumbria is essential, as well as a willingness to be proactive and take the initiative.

Chair’s Priorities for 2010

2010 is an important year for the Conservative Party as we head towards the imminent General Election and as such it is an opportunity for Conservative Future to prove itself as an effective, dedicated and professional organisation. Success in the North West will be crucial for the Party if the Conservatives are to secure a Parliamentary majority and therefore I hope that Conservative Future will play its part in the region to help secure that majority. Beyond the election, I want the enthusiasm for the Party generated by the election to be channeled into increasing Party membership numbers and active participation. To achieve this I have set out my aims for the North West and I hope I can rely on the support of branches across the region to help achieve these aims:

1. To hold at least one regional campaign day in a North West target seat, attended by at least 20 Conservative Future members. I believe it is vital we do this as by lending our support to a target seat we can have a real impact on the result in the target constituency and ultimately the overall result of the General Election.
2. To use the General Election as a means of increasing active participation in Conservative Future branches across the region. Branches will be all too familiar with members that sign up and pay their subscription only never to be seen again. By using the General Election as a focus point and purpose for branches, I believe we can increase active participation in branches not only with regards to campaigning but also for social and other activities crucial for building strong and vibrant branches. I want to carry this enthusiasm over to Freshers’ Fair recruitment to secure record membership numbers and strengthen the region’s branches.
3. To ensure that the views and opinions of branches are heard by the national Party. To do this I want to personally visit branches to help with campaigning and to meet members across the region, listening to their views and concerns, passing them on where appropriate to the Conservative Future National Executive.
4. To encourage social action projects in the run up to the election and beyond. I particularly want to work with branches to use social action as a focus for involving new recruits in October 2010.

I have been appointed as the new Chairman for North West Conservative Future. A life long Conservative, I am committed to ensuring the Conservatives win the next General Election and want to use my appointment to ensure that Conservative Future in the North West plays its part in achieving that aim. You can read more about me and Conservative Future in the North West on the “About Us” page.

My appointment follows the resignation of Mark Littler, who has decided to stand down in order to concentrate on completing his thesis for his Masters degree at Cambridge University. My thanks go to Mark for all his hard work in the region and I wish him well in his studies.

New Blog for North West Conservative Future

North West Conservative Future has a new Blog. The Blog will be used to advertise campaign events across the North West and to document some of the hard work put in by young Conservative activists across the region.

The Blog is also open for contributions from all North West Conservatives and articles can be submitted by emailing north.west@conservativefuture.com
